Pakistan’s 75 years history has been the essence of imploding democracy. Unfortunately, where others read the history to mitigate their drawbacks, to forestall its reverberation, Pakistan’s bellwether has been quite an antagonistic one. This country’s history keeps on lingering its gloomy affect, even in today’s political epoch, provided the fillip by our ruling elites. What results in, is the recurring patterns of history, with an aggravating consequence, to this country’s reveries of progress.
Pakistan’ democracy has always been stuck between the shenanigans of military and the politicians’ lust of power, where both keep on climbing the ladder to be the nanny of this country. Our politicians been impotent to deliver what they promise, plant their fidelity to military establishment to crush their opponents, which in turn mollycoddle our politicians appetite, making them the apple of their eyes, to hold the reigns of this country’s race, which is why this epic show of game of thrones in Pakistan makes every government look like a revolving door.
“Nevertheless, it doesn’t take long for a hunter in Pakistan’s politics, to be the hunted, because this has been the gist of Pakistan’s political destiny, courtesy of the course, the politicians have formulated for themselves, as today’s savior will be tomorrow’s miscreant and vice versa.”
Pakistan’s mercurial nature of politics has rendered every opportunity to its stakeholders to aggrandize their apocryphal notion of being a democratic party to the point where the rubber could meet the road. But unpropitiously, the ruse of democracy turned out to be fraudulent, just as the protracting show is yet to find the curtains. The Janus-faced nature of our politicians deem democracy as the solution to this country’s malaise system, only when they are being snubbed by the military establishment, while in the government, a hush falls over them as they are being crowned as the champions of democracy.
What’s been done with PTI and Imran Khan, though has been more or less the infertile ramification of his own imperious political legacy, yet the fickle politics in Pakistan always defies the odds. Though Imran Khan’s narrative has been another addition of page in the same whinging chapter, of what every prime minister’s ouster has defined. But the alarms have started ringing for Mr. Khan and his party. Ostensibly, his provoking narrative against the military establishment gives an impression of Khan being punching above his weight, the immense burden of which hasn’t been shouldered by his own staunch party mates. Moreover, the 9th May tragic incident, left the government and military establishment with an even open ground for giving a drubbing to PTI, leading to their hunt. Nevertheless, it doesn’t take long for a hunter in Pakistan’s politics, to be the hunted, because this has been the gist of Pakistan’s political destiny, courtesy of the course, the politicians have formulated for themselves, as today’s savior will be tomorrow’s miscreant and vice versa.
Political victimization, forcing the abuse of power to make someone quit the parties and even politics, banning political parties, handing civilians to the military courts, which by no means, is a charter of democracy, debauches the morality of this system. Though this country has been a dark effigy of this culture, yet the only horrendous thing is, this being the stratagem of a civilian government, shadowing under military establishment. However, their claim to champions of democracy is without a testimony to substantiate it, as in Pakistan, democratic values are about to be tested in government, when you are about to become a hunter.
Albeit, PPP and PMLN have a gloomy history of being hunted by the military establishment, many times, and even PTI now in the list, yet the betrayal to the democracy didn’t avert, every time they get to hunt. Yet the political victimization is to be trivialized. Yet a prime minster is to complete his legal tenure of 5 years. Yet the celebrations for the ouster of a prime minster are to be halted. Yet the morality is to stand tall in our politics. Yet, our politicians are to become sagacious, to have dialogues and negotiations in between them to give democracy a try, and yet, they are to be crowned as the champions of democracy.
